Top Question: Can I delay Medicare Part B beyond my 65th birthday?
It depends on your situation. A common misperception is that everyone has to enroll in Medicare when they turn 65 during their initial eligibility period window and if not, they will face lifelong penalties. This is not necessarily the case. You can delay your enrollment in Medicare Part B if you or your spouse are actively employed and have health insurance through an employer. However, the exception to this rule is if your employer has fewer than 20 employees, then you cannot delay your enrollment in Medicare Part B. You also cannot delay your enrollment in Medicare Part B if you qualify for COBRA benefits.
